Northeast Asphalt (NEA) led the complete reconstruction of Lawrence University’s athletic fields, including Whiting Field (Track & Field) and the adjacent baseball and softball fields, from October 2022 to December 2023. This $2.7M project involved addressing substantial grading issues, upgrading field amenities, and managing all aspects of the project as the general contractor. NEA’s comprehensive management and collaboration with other Walbec companies ensured the delivery of NCAA-certified facilities.
PROJECT DETAILS
- Full Reconstruction: Corrected off-regulation grading, with the infield almost a foot too high.
- Design & Grading: Partnered with Payne + Dolan for precise design engineering, and grades.
- Baseball/Softball Fields: Installed bullpens for the softball fields, warning tracks, and irrigation systems.
- Custom Infield Mix: Produced in-house using materials from two of our aggregate sites, with close collaboration from our Quality Management Services team.
- General Contractor: NEA managed all bidding, construction, and subcontractor oversight.
