The Position:
Under the direction of the operation manager, the milling supervisor is responsible for an efficient milling personnel scheduling, overseeing milling equipment needs and repair, and reinforcement of continuous quality improvement in the areas of pulverized material gradations, milled surface uniformity and roadway ride quality.
Responsibilities:
- Help manage the daily milling operations in assigned area(s)
- Monitor job planning and execution to maximize production, quality & safety goals
- Acts as safety leader for field operations
- Primary conductor and coach of the crews for success program and involved in foreman and crew evaluation processes
- Prioritizes and coordinates with repair shop manager, foreman, and mechanics on repair and maintenance of mills, pulverizers and related support equipment. Reviews repair methods, costs, etc.
- Train foremen and crew members using quality manual and training, adhering to best practices guidelines
- Understand, to an expert level, the machine operations and automation operations of milling equipment being utilized on jobs.
- Troubleshoot and understand how to correct quality issues related to milling, pulverizing, job layout, etc.
- Responsible to understand and consult on new equipment specifications and involved in equipment purchases
- Has a strong knowledge of Wisconsin DOT specifications.
- Provides company with continuous improvement analysis of milling operations
- Understands how to read state and municipal plans and lay-out projects prior to work being done
- Act as consultant for the operation and area management as well as purchasing on any milling equipment acquisitions
- Interact and work well with external and internal customers by showing leadership and acting professional at all times
- Assists as needed in training of foremen and project managers as well as field crew personnel
- Carry a positive attitude and personal appearance, demonstrate proper work ethic and dedication to job, set good example

The Location:
- Projects will vary by location throughout the Southeast WI local area, or the state, so reliable transportation and/or a willingness to travel to any job site is required as needed.
The Candidate:
- A high ethical standard for personal and business conduct
- Self-directed and motivated; able to manage multiple conflicting and changing priorities
- Experience as a field milling foreman
- Excellent verbal and written communication, consulting, conflict management, interpersonal, and negotiation skills
- Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record
- Working knowledge of CMV guidelines and regulations
- Able to be trusted with confidential information and observe anti-trust laws and regulations
