The Position:
Under the direction of the Director, Enterprise Risk Management, the Insurance Risk Manager is responsible for directing the purchase of insurance programs, loss control activities and management of relationships with third party service providers, which includes brokers, insurers and other TPAs. This role will also prepare loss analyses and budgets, identify exposures, recommend solutions, implement approved programs, promote loss prevention, update and monitor compliance with insurance procedures and manage safety/risk management manuals
- Initiate and participate in day-to-day interactions between internal departments, project management, external clients, brokers and insurers related to risk management and insurance issues.
- Identify emerging or unaddressed risk exposures through in-house communications, bid and contract review, safety & claims meetings, the analysis of historical loss data, field site visits and review of industry risk information and trends.
- Analyze and understand insurable risks and potential risk mitigation opportunities; interact with operational groups to ensure coordination between project activities, exposures, and appropriate insurance coverage.
- Procure, manage & administer corporate property and casualty insurance programs as well as Cyber Risk, Management Liability, and Environmental Liability insurance. Manage insurance strategy with brokers including approval of submissions and negotiation of coverage terms and premiums.
- Lead the compilation and development of underwriting data for annual renewal of all insurance programs.
- Manage and communicate data updates throughout the policy year as needed.
- Provide insurance-risk related budgets, TCOR forecasts and financial reports including monthly accrual reserve reporting. Analyze annual insurance premiums, exposures and the financial performance of insurance programs. Develop corporate bid rates and premium allocations.
- Utilize Origami RMIS for the tracking and management of all insurance policies and related data and documentation. Ensure allocation of claims to the appropriate insurance policies within Origami.
- Manage annual insurance audits through the gathering of audit data, interfacing with carrier audit teams and approval of final audit reports and billing.
- Interface daily with various insurance program vendors including brokers, underwriters, loss control engineers, claims staff and auditors.
- Review, edit and negotiate insurance, indemnification, and other risk allocation provisions in Walbec contracts with project owners in collaboration with in-house legal department.
- Calculate appropriate risk loads for project bidding teams based on project risks and contract requirements. Negotiate and procure appropriate contract specific insurance coverages to comply with contract insurance requirements, Joint Venture bids, Railroad requirements, Builders Risk insurance, and accompanying certificates of insurance (approx. 2500 issued per year).
- Manage all aspects of proposed Controlled Insurance Programs (OCIPs and CCIPs) including analysis of terms & conditions, pricing of bid factors and administration. Function as liaison between project teams, claims, safety and the OCIP. Determine OCIP credits on master programs.
- Assist with management of corporate surety program coordinating with internal teams and management of broker and underwriter relationships to facilitate timely delivery of project-specific bonds. Interfacing with the broker and surety underwriter with Walbec legal on bond issues and claims.
- Manage corporate-wide third-party vendor compliance and the flow-down of contractual insurance requirements to subcontractors/material suppliers through the language in our subcontracts and other vendor agreements. Gather the correct agreements and insurance, maintain the vendor tracking system, mail monthly requests and provide ongoing reports to internal users of the vendor. (Approximately 2000 active vendors per year)
- Maintain knowledge of trends in construction insurance industry, including thorough working knowledge of insurance products, coverages and pricing.
- Work closely with Marketing and Corporate Knowledge Center on internal communications related to risk management initiatives and delivery of educational presentations and sessions focused on insurance and risk issues.

The Candidate:
- Bachelors degree in Business with emphasis in Risk Management, Insurance, Finance or Accounting. Legal degree or Claims experience a plus.
- 5 or more years of experience in Commercial or Construction Insurance, Risk Management and Surety as a purchaser, broker, underwriter or consultant.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of full Microsoft 360 suite. Origami RMIS and CMiC ERP experience a plus.
- Effective management of team members, interfacing with peer departments and time management skills.
