The historic downtown of Mineral Point—a charming town in Iowa County, WI—received a transformative infrastructure upgrade through the reconstruction of High Street. This award-winning project included replacing aging pavement with durable concrete while preserving the town’s cultural and architectural heritage.
PROJECT DETAILS
- The planning phase began in 2018 with extensive community involvement. A dedicated steering committee—including business owners, historians, and residents—worked to ensure the design balanced functional needs with aesthetic considerations.
- Parisi began the overall project in March 2024 and concluded work in August 2024. The concrete work started in April and was completed in phases through August.
- The project scope encompassed underground utilities (sanitary sewer, water main, and storm sewer), site grading, and concrete work, including curbs, sidewalks, and roadway paving.
- Key challenges included managing the steep grade while preserving business entrances and street requirements, plus maintaining pedestrian and vehicle access for business operations during construction.
- The concrete paving was completed using a laser screed guided by robotic total station. This technology enabled the team to pave multiple lanes simultaneously while precisely matching varying road grades.
- Consistent communication with the public is a top priority. Parisi provided biweekly updates and regular meetings to address scheduling and conflicts.
- Through collaboration with Delta 3 Engineering, combining project phases, and using both a laser screed and a large workforce, the project was completed more than two months ahead of schedule.
The Parisi team’s exceptional performance on this project has earned both national recognition from the American Concrete Pavement Association (ACPA) and the Excellence in Concrete Construction award from the Wisconsin Concrete Pavement Association (WCPA). Through innovative construction methods and strong community collaboration, the team delivered a durable infrastructure solution that will serve Mineral Point’s historic downtown for generations to come.
